Claudia Moura
Pelvic Health Physiotherapist

Claudia is a certified pelvic health physiotherapist (PH PT) and belongs to the Pelvic and Reproductive Health division from the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. She works at the Lois Hole Women’s Hospital and has experience treating urogynecological post surgeries such as prolapse repairs and post hysterectomy, as well as chronic pelvic pain. She used to work with geriatrics and neurological patients at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital, with 17 years of AHS experience in different settings, but after her own journey as a postpartum patient, she realized that pelvic health treatment is the best way to address lumbo-pelvic-hip dysfunctions.

Claudia specializes in urogenital issues, she has the advanced level in urogenital visceral manipulation with the Barral institute’s director PH PT Gail Wetzler from USA, and has completed the Clinical Mentorship Integrated Systems Model with PT Diane Lee in Vancouver. She has completed courses with PT Mary Massery to study the relationship about breathing and postural control. Claudia treats male pelvic health, completing the four horseman course with Montreal’s PH PT Di Wu from the IPC institute. She is working on a postgraduate course in Pilates for rehabilitation with emphasis on restorative and integrative mobility.

Claudia wants to help women and men with pelvic girdle concerns, including chronic sacroiliac and coccyx pain, pre/post-prostatectomy, prenatal-postnatal, general pelvic pain, peri-post menopause, constipation, incontinence, vulvodynia and sexual dysfunction. She has experience treating gastrointestinal dysfunctions, such as IBS and IBD, and also has an interest in treating neurodiverse adults and children (ADHD/ASD), helping them to regulate the autonomic nervous system with techniques to influence the vagus nerve. Claudia’s holistic approach is based on integration of physiotherapy techniques and osteopathic techniques to locate fascia tension connections or visceral restrictions, unfolding a pattern that causes suboptimal muscle performance and body misalignment. Claudia uses many techniques such as visceral manipulation, neural mobilization, craniosacral therapy, Hypopressive low pressure core exercises, Pilates exercises, dermoneuromodulation for pain, dry needling and acupuncture. She believes that movement is the best pill and mental wellbeing contributes to functional mobility.

Outside of work, Claudia is trying to balance time for self-care, training for races (running half marathons or Olympic distance triathlon), and keeping up-to-date with current publications in women’s health with specific interest in researching laser treatment for pelvic pain . She has a lovely son and husband providing great family support. Other than English, Claudia speaks Portuguese and Spanish.
