Brian Rambaransingh

Dr Brian Rambaransingh | Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Specialist

Dr. Brian Rambaransingh is a medical graduate of University of Calgary (MD). Dr. Rambaransingh has postgraduate training in both Diagnostic Imaging and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Calgary.  He completed his Royal College Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Specialty training in 2012.  He is a Diplomate of the Canadian Society of Clinical Neurophysiologists for performing nerve conduction studies and electromyography. Dr. Rambaransingh is also a registered musculoskeletal sonographer, certified by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography. He is also a Certified Independent Medical Examiner by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners and also a Certified Medical-Legal Expert by Canadian Society of Medical Evaluators.


Dr. Rambaransingh is a co-founder of Body Restoration.  He is the Medical Director and EMG Director for our clinics as well.


Dr. Rambaransingh is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Department of Medicine at the University of Alberta. He is also an Adjunct Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, Cumming school of Medicine at the University of Calgary.  His academic interests include interventional pain management, minimally invasive techniques/ treatment for muscle and nerve conditions, Orthobiologic Medicine, and musculoskeletal ultrasound education.   He is published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national medical conferences across Canada.  He is also an invited reviewer for Pain Medicineand Muscle & Nervemedical journals.  Dr. Rambaransingh teaches and mentors medical students, residents, and fellows from across the country.  They also travel from across Canada to spend time at Body Restorationwhich is also a training facility.


He has a particular interest in the application of ultrasound for diagnosis and treatment in complex musculoskeletal and peripheral nerve injuries.  Dr. Rambaransingh also has a keen interest in the application of Orthobiologic medicine (i.e. tenotomy, platelet rich plasma therapy and advanced cell therapies) in musculoskeletal and peripheral nerve injuries as well.


Dr. Rambaransingh has worked with many types of patients including professional athletes, amateur athletes (e.g. Olympic, Varsity, and high school), military personnel, first responder professionals, and weekend warriors.


Dr. Rambaransingh is married with two smart and willful children.  Outside of the clinic, he enjoys watching and playing a variety of sports, and pretending to be fit.

Dr Tara Kaman

Dr Tara Kaman | Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Specialist

Dr. Tara Kaman completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University. She went to medical school at the University of British Columbia and obtained her Doctor of Medicine in 2013. She then moved to Alberta where she underwent training in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency program at the University of Alberta. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and a diplomate of the Canadian Society of Clinical Neurophysiologists. Her current clinical interests are in musculoskeletal and sports medicine, ultrasound and electrodiagnostic medicine.

Nadine Fennig

Nadine Fennig | PT

Nadine Fennig is a co-founder of Body Restoration and currently serves as the organization’s Director of Operations. Nadine graduated from the University of Alberta in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (with distinction). In her 22 years of practice, Nadine has enjoyed pursuing many continuing education courses pertaining to physical therapy as well as business and prides herself in her persistence for perpetual growth.


Nadine has pursued several post graduate courses and certifications including a Certificate in Manual Therapy from Curtin University, a Certificate in Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS), a Certificate in Acupuncture from the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute, and a Certificate in Cervical and Temporomandibular Therapeutics from the Physical Therapy Board of Craniofacial and Cervical Therapeutics. She has also completed various manual therapy courses all over the world and her latest found passion is musculoskeletal ultrasound.


Nadine has always been very passionate about collaboration and sharing knowledge with other disciplines as well as inside the physiotherapy profession. She enjoys lecturing and teaching at the University of Alberta in both the Department of Dentistry as well as the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. Her passion for mentorship and collaboration laid the ground work for the inception of Body Restoration.

During her years in clinical practice, Nadine has enjoyed treating orthopedic and sports injuries for patients of all ages and backgrounds and prides herself in achieving positive results with not only acute injuries, but also chronic injuries that have not responded to more conventional types of treatments. Nadine uses an evidence based collaborative approach to treatment using a combination of manual therapy, ART, IMS, and shockwave. She takes pride in offering the best of care to each and every patient.


Nadine is married, with 2 beautiful daughters. Outside the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. In her spare time, she loves jogging and has a new-found love/hate relationship with yoga.

Simone Rambaransingh

Simone Rambaransingh | Speech Pathologist

Simone earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Victoria in Psychology, Linguistics and Slavonic studies in 1999. She then completed her Master’s degree of Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Alberta in 2003. Since that time, Simone worked for Persons with Developmental Disabilities, a branch of the Government of Alberta serving adults with developmental disabilities; the Calgary Board of Education, providing comprehensive speech and language services for Kindergarten students; as a private SLP in a company called Achieve Better Communication Skills, Ltd. serving children of all ages in the Calgary area; Foothills Creative Beginnings preschool, providing early intervention for children receiving PUF funding; the Rockyview School Board, serving French Immersion Kindergarten classes.


Simone then relocated to Edmonton in the spring of 2012. Simone has enjoyed working with a wide range of people from preschoolers to adults with diverse challenges and diagnoses including people who are non-verbal and who have Autism Spectrum Disorder. Simone has a particular interest in augmentative and alternative forms of communication. To continue to provide best practice therapy, she has pursued additional training in PECS, SCERTS Model, Kaufman and many courses in AAC. Simone values collaborating with teachers, providing classroom-based intervention and educating and empowering caregivers. Simone particularly enjoyed working closely with families to help their children achieve their communication goals.

Matt Wong

Matt Wong | PT

Matt obtained his Master of Science in Physical Therapy and Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with Distinction at the University of Alberta. Prior to completing his Masters, he worked as a kinesiologist for 3 years in Calgary, Alberta, to advance his practice in soft tissue mobilization and therapeutic exercise prescription.


Matt’s comprehensive treatment approach is patient-centred and goal oriented. He is trained in manual and manipulative therapy, acupuncture and dry needling, vestibular rehabilitation, Graston technique, and orthotics fitting. During his career, Matt has had the opportunity to work with various populations and conditions. He values the importance of patient education and helping clients take an active role in their recovery.


Having personally suffered sport-related injuries and undergone knee surgery, Matt has a keen interest in sport injury rehabilitation and injury prevention. Outside of the clinic, Matt maintains an active lifestyle by weightlifting, cycling, and playing sports such as hockey and tennis. He also enjoys the culinary scene and trying new restaurants in the city.

Blayne Burrows

Blayne Burrows | PT

Blayne has been practicing Physical Therapy since 2007. She is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan and Western University, where she obtained her Masters of Clinical Science in 2012. In that same year, Blayne became a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapy (FCAMPT). She is the current Vice Chair of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) Orthopaedic Division, a member of the CPA Manual Therapy Steering Committee, sits on the Physiotherapy Alberta Knowledge Mobilization Advisory Committee, and is a past senior editor of the Orthopaedic Division Review. Blayne actively mentors and teaches in the Edmonton area. Her goal with every patient interaction is to provide a positive, patient centred experience that combines her clinical knowledge, research evidence, and patient goals. As a member of the Body Restoration team, Blayne is committed to collaboration and consultation with her colleagues to find the right treatment options for patients. Outside of the clinic, Blayne enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and recreational sports on water and snow.

Mariam Ashraf

Dr. Mariam Ashraf | Chiropractor

Dr Mariam Ashraf grew up in Edmonton and always had an interest in health care.  She graduated from the University of Alberta in 2002 with a B.Sc. (specializing in Psychology) and then continued on to chiropractic school in Toronto.


Since graduating as a doctor of chiropractic in 2006, Dr Ashraf has earned certifications in Active Release Technique (full-body certified in A.R.T.) and Kinesiotaping for soft tissue injuries.  She has had volunteer experience performing first aid and training with several sports teams (eg. the Toronto Lynx and the Fort Saskatchewan Chiefs).  Dr Ashraf also loves working with children- treating all ages in the clinic and going to schools (Bon Accord, Tanzania) to teach elementary school students about posture and proper backpack ergonomics.


Dr Ashraf particularly has a special interest in treating TMJD (jaw problems) with several specific training courses, including attending the AAOP (American Academy of Orofacial Pain) conference in 2013, completing the Somatic Senses functional treatment course (course for chiropractors to assess and treat the jaw), attending monthly meetings with the jaw pain MASCCP study club, and applying dental, physiotherapy, and chiropractic treatments for a well-rounded approach to assessing and treating jaw disorders.


Dr Ashraf is also trained to perform gait and biomechanical assessments for custom orthotics.


For future endeavors, Dr Ashraf plans to expand her knowledge of assessing and treating vertigo.  She currently treats BPPV (benign vertigo) regularly but will add to her skill set by completing a vestibular rehab course in Vancouver this November.

Leasa Stanley

Leasa Stanley | PT

Leasa was born and raised in beautiful Nova Scotia. After graduating from St. F.X. University with an Advanced Major Bachelor in Science in Human Nutrition, she attended Dalhousie’s Physiotherapy program.


She has been practicing physiotherapy since 2000, first in Nova Scotia and now in Alberta. She treats a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions in clients of all ages. To achieve optimal results, she uses a combination of manual and manipulative therapy, personalized exercise prescription, education and therapeutic modalities.  She has achieved Level 5 Manual Therapy and practices GunnIMS (dry needling).


Other post-graduate education includes Concussion Management and Rehabilitation, McKenzie Method in Lumbar and Cervical Spines, Sahrmann Movement Impairments, as well as several pediatric courses.   Outside of the clinic, Leasa enjoys running, yoga, and horses.  Most of all, she cherishes her time with her family and friends.
